Placed at Ritz Charlton Hotel, Sudirman Jakarta, MobilMotor magazine conduct annual award to best cars in Indonesia on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Event Indonesian Car of The Year 2009 (ICOTY) has selecting 31 models of 12 sole distributor / car maker. ICOTY 2009 testing took place in Sentul Circuit – Northern Jakarta, at 8 to 13 October 2009. Assessment no longer based on car sales figures or brand image. Within 6 months, the jury from editor team of MobilMotor already has selecting and testing these cars in various testing.
During the 6-day test, all the finalists has test that includes city orientation, emissions testing, visibility test, test cabin space, illumination test, audio test, the silence of the cabin test, and test performance. Meanwhile the city orientation testing has conducted by an independent jury of 7 professionals in their field of national auto. Besides these testing, a depreciation rate of car per year was also considered.
CEO Toyota Astra Motor, Mr. Jhonny Darmawan said they are shocked because of Toyota Yaris won the best car award as Indonesian Car of The Year 2009. Due to car sales report Toyota Yaris still under Honda Jazz that dominates national auto market and first present in Medium City Car / Hatchback. But actually, this award proves the quality and a feature of Toyota Yaris is the best in car city class said Mr. Jhonny.
Beside Toyota Yaris that won Best of The Best Car / ICOTY 2009 in this award, Toyota cars also bought a lot of award i.e. the Best Mini MPV (Toyota Yaris), Best Medium sedan (Toyota All New Corolla Altis), Best Double Cabin (Toyota Hilux), Best SUV Diesel (Toyota New Fortuner), Best Exhibition (Toyota Prius).
