Volkswagen release 2 variants of VW Golf GTi

By today (05/11/2009) and placed at Buddha Bar, Menteng – Jakarta, PT. Garuda Mataram Motor, sole distributor of Audi and Volkswagen in Indonesia, just release 2 new variants of Golf GTi. These new cars are 6th generation of Golf GTi that firstly introduced in year 1976.
VW Golf GTi
Both of VW Golf GTi is equipped by 2.0-liter-engine with Turbocharger and Direct Injection technology and Exclusively TSI from Volkswagen. With this engine the VW Golf GTI can have a maximum power 210 PS @ 5,300 rpm and maximum torque of 230 Nm @ 1,750 rpm, while maximum speed reaches 238 km / hour and can accelerate from 0-100 km / hour in just 6.9 seconds.
In addition, the fuel consumption of this new car was improved and able to achieve 1 liter for 13.5 km. At Europe, the VW cars is already bearing the emissions standard of Euro 4, but for the Indonesian market this new car is slightly lowered the standard to Euro2 and claimed only produces emissions 173 gram / km.
VW Golf GTI has dimensions: 4.213 mm length, 1.786 mm width, and 1.501 mm height with length of wheel base is 2.578 mm. This Sport Hatchback is more sporty, muscle and bolder with larger wheels to 18 inch and the same design with the previous generation that it has become characteristic of Golf GTI.
The first variant is the Golf GTI 4-door priced Rp. 575 million or more expensive approximately Rp. 77 million from the fifth generation that previously sold for Rp. 498 million. While the other variant is a Golf GTI 2-door sold Rp. 565 million from the previous price of Rp. 488 million. With these high prices, VW Golf GTI become most expensive City Car / Hatchback and with all the advantages and convenience offered, Golf GTI has no competition in the Premium Hatchback class in national auto. However, this Europe car is targeted only sold 20 units during the year 2009.
Indeed the price of Europe cars has still import became very expensive when sold in Indonesia because so many taxes imposed; there is Import Duty, Valuable Added Tax, Luxury Tax, etc. Volkswagen has intention to establish an assembly plant and assembling its product line-up in Indonesia to have a more competitive price for all VW cars.
