Japanese Cars still led 2009 National Auto Market

Indisputable those Japanese cars are still the belle of the national auto market. In the year 2009 had just passed, the national automobile market is dominated by Japanese cars to 95% of the total industry volume. While the remaining 5% contested by other brands from Europe car, America car, Korea car, Malaysia and China. Of the total new car sales in the year 2009, ranked from 1 to 8 are occupied by Japanese brands respectively, Toyota,  Daihatsu, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Honda, and so on.

Toyota still led the car market in Indonesia with 38.4% market share or sales units 186,687. This means that Toyota’s market share has grown 3.5% from last year that only 34.9%. Although overall sales of new cars Toyota negative corrected to 12% of sales in 2008 which reached 211,910 units, this is still an achievement for the industry average should even out its sales to 20%. While in the commercial vehicle market, with Colt Diesel and Fuso Truck, Mitsubishi managed to become the market leader and dominate 60% of the total commercial vehicle market. Strong dominance in the commercial vehicle market, light trucks and heavy trucks make Mitsubishi grabbed the top three with 12.7% market share, or 61,375 units. In addition to Colt Diesel and Fuso is a market leader in the market of light trucks and heavy trucks, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport also reached high sales and became one of the main players in the SUV 4X2 segment.

If viewed from sales (wholesales) are the brands sold by Astra International (Toyota, Daihatsu, Isuzu, Nissan Diesel, Lexus, Peugeot) dominated the national auto market with 58% market share, while Indomobil Group (Suzuki, Nissan, Hino, Volvo, Audi, Volkswagen, Chery) is also one of the major players in Indonesia with 16% market share.
