Toyota Avanza remain as Best Selling Cars in 2009

Toyota Avanza is invincible and remains as a best-selling car in 2009. During the year 2009, from January to December Toyota Avanza able to record 100,065 unit sales for all models and types. Its means that Toyota Avanza dominates over 21% share of the national auto market, or 28% of the total passenger car sales in Indonesia. Total auto sales in Indonesia has books 486,061 units in year 2009 and 354,040 units are passenger cars while 132,021 units are commercial vehicle.

Toyota Avanza | Best Selling Car
Besides Avanza, Toyota’s brand strength in the national auto market is also demonstrated by the success of Toyota Kijang Innova and Toyota Rush as one of the best-selling car. Toyota Kijang Innova is a market leader in the Medium MPV segment and sold at a price range 180 million to 300 million, managed 36K units sold. While the Toyota Rush, one of the major players in the Medium SUV segment is also ranked 6th best-selling car list with sales of units 13,000.
Apparently, the market demand is also enjoyed by Daihatsu Xenia, which is a twin models from Toyota Avanza. From the list of top ten best-selling cars in 2009, Xenia had to sit in second place with sales of 43,409 units. Besides Xenia, PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor also managed to make its flagship SUV models as one of the best-selling car, the Daihatsu Terios with sales of 13,149 units.

Honda Freed | Best Family Car
Other brands that successfully put the best cars on the list of best-selling car is PT. Honda Prospect Motor. The sole distributor of Honda cars in Indonesia managed to make three flagship models of Jazz, CRV, and Freed as the best-selling car. Honda All New Jazz became the only player in the City Car segment of successful sold 15,713 units (rank 4th) while Honda New CRV is ranked 8th with the sale of 10,110 units. The most phenomenal is the Honda Freed, a new car into the MPV Medium segment’s sold in mid-2009 was successfully sold more than 8,900 units and is ranked 10th best-selling car list this year.
While Suzuki and Nissan just put one of each model is Suzuki APV (12.555 units in rank 7th) and Nissan Grand Livina (10.028 units in rank 9th).

Based on these data, it appears that Japanese brands still dominate the national auto market. But it seemed also that the model of family-car or MPV remains the choice of Indonesian consumers, in addition to the SUV and the City Car.
