Hyundai i20 will be launch in IIMS 2009
Last week a attractive hatchback overtake, when we across Hyundai factory in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi. Its a white one, and its appearance like Hyundai i10, but bigger, bolder and very muscled. Yes, it’s a Hyundai i20! We try to take a picture but unfortunately, they turn right and enter into Hyundai factory.
As rumors, Hyundai i20 will be launch in Indonesia International Motor Show by July 24, 2009. Its will follow Hyundai i10 that released on March 5, 2009. If Hyundai i10 placed into Low City Car segment and head to head with Suzuki Karimun Estillo, Kia Picanto, Proton Savvy, and Chery QQ, so “the old brother” i20 ready to challenge a market leader in Medium City Car such as Honda All New Jazz, Toyota Yaris, and Suzuki Swift.
In origin country, South of Korea, Hyundai i20 available in 4 engine choices. 1.2liter Kappa Engine (Petrol) – 78PS, 1.4liter Gamma Engine (Petrol) – 100PS, 1.6liter Gamma Engine (Petrol) – 124PS, and 1.4liter CRDi Engine (Diesel) – 90PS. PT. Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, as a sole distributors of Hyundai Passenger Cars, has not yet state which one will sale to Indonesia auto market.
Despite its still in product and market analysis phase, and which a model/variant and how much its price, a reliable source says one of car with 1.4liter CRDi Diesel Engine still doing endurance test. And he said its power like a 2.0 liter gasoline engine. Wonderful!
Hyundai i20 has spacious cabin and the dimensions are 3,940 mm length; 1,710 mm width, and 1,505 mm height with 2,525 mm wheelbase. The suspension is very comfort and easy to handling since use a Gas Shock Absorber to completed McPherson Strut in front and Couple Torsion Beam Axle in rear.
In others market, Hyundai i20 fully equipped by safety features such as : AntiSkid Brake System and Electronic Brake Distribution, Dual SRS Air Bag, Front Seatbelt Pretensioners, Fog Lamp, Immobilizer, Central Lock. And to make a driver and passenger feel comfort, Hyundai i20 is equipped by Audio Steering Switch, Double Din CD+MP3, Keyless Entry Key, Electric Control and Foldable Mirror, and Front & Rear Power Window.
Will do Hyundai i20 change and break Medium City Car segment that dominates by Japanese brand? We will see.
