PT. General Motors Auto World Indonesia (GMAWI), sole distributor Chevrolet brand, expecting may to release Chevrolet Cruze to Indonesia auto market soon. As per information from GMAWI, Cruze plan to release after “Hari Raya Lebaran”, its mean on September or October 2009.
Despite Chevy Cruze testing in Europe, it’s designed at General Motors South of Korea. A compact sedan from GM firstly introduced at Paris Motor Show in October 2008 and start to sale in Europe from March 2009. In Europe auto market, Chevy Cruze available in 3 engine models, 1.6 liter petrol engine, 1.8 liter petrol engine, and 2.0 liter Common Rail Direct Injection Diesel Engine. So, which engine one will market in Indonesia? 1.8 liter petrol engine is best fitted with Indonesia auto market.
If sole distributor of Chevrolet in Indonesia become to sale Cruze with 1.8 liter engine, its will competition in Small Sedan segment more interesting. Moreover, PT. GMAWI state the price of Cruze is about Rp. 350 million (USD 35,000). This price makes Cruze 1.8 direct to compete with Toyota New Corolla Altis 1.8 (Rp. 320 mills up to Rp. 358 mills) and Honda All New Civic 1.8 (Rp. 334 mills & Rp. 347 mills).
With maximum power 141 PS / 6,200 rpm and maximum torque 176 Nm / 3,800 rpm, Chevy Cruze 1.8L giving more power, better fuel efficiency and as well as lower emissions. The Cruze get maximum speed until 198 kilometer per hour (kph) and able to accelerate 0 to 100 kph within 10 second.
With compact dimension (4597mm X 1788 mm X 1477 mm) this car looks compact but spacious since has a long wheelbase (2685 mm) and able to carrying more luggage with 450 liter luggage space.
Refer to European specification; Chevrolet Cruze has completed features of safety and comfort. Equipped by SRS Airbag, ISOFIX child seat, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, Parking Sensor and Front Fog Lamp. The Cruze more comfort with MacPherson Strut in front suspension and Compound Crank axle in rear suspension.
Hmmm….could is Chevrolet Cruze breaks market domination by Toyota New Corolla Altis and Honda All New Civic up till now.
