Cars Sales in Indonesia International Motor Show 2009
Indonesia Cars Sales in July 09 is highest in year 2009 and increase 6% from June sales. Cars sales in July ‘09 have book 41,909 units while June sales only booked 39,568 units. Totally Indonesia cars sales in 2009 was 252,154 units, decreased -29% from 353,465 units in same period last year (January to July 2008).
The increasing of Indonesia cars sales are caused by a stable political situation after the president election and the economic conditions recover. In addition, the successful of Indonesia International Motor Show 2009 enhance the cars delivery from sole distributor to its dealer. This makes the automotive industry in Indonesia more optimistic, especially with interest rates from Bank of Indonesia also revealed.
Some of GAIKINDO members optimistic and predict the cars sales in August and September will increase more. This is due in August and September; the majority of the Indonesian people will face “Bulan Puasa/Ramadhan and Hari Raya Lebaran (Holiday)”. In this month they usually need a new car to “Pulang Kampung”.
Toyota still leads Indonesia auto market with 96,784 unit’s sales or 38.4% market share. The one of Japanese brand that sole by Astra International, Daihatsu books 5,793 units sales in July and totally achieve 40,304 units (16%). Its make Mitsubishi is in the third rank with total sales 31,804 units (12.6%), Suzuki in the fourth rank with 24,706 units (9.8%), and Honda in fifth rank with 18,801 units or 7.5% market share.
