Hyundai-Kia fourth-largest Global Cars Sales, overtakes Ford

Korean car manufacturer, Hyundai-KIA overtakes Ford to become the world’s fourth-largest cars sales, behind Toyota, GM and Volkswagen in the global automotive market in the first semester of year 2009. Refer to Automotive News Data Center figures Ford is placed fifth, with Peugeot-Citroen, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki and Renault bringing up the rear.

Ford Motor Company sold over 1 million more vehicles than Hyundai-Kia in 2008. In this time, Hyundai-Kia outselling Ford by eight thousand units and Ford sales fall by more than 30 per cent in the first half of 2009 compare with same period in last year.

A Japanese Car, Toyota edging out General Motor by less than 12,000 units and sold 3,564,105 units in the first half of 2009. This result will be encouraging to general Motor after undergone bankruptcy proceedings and lost its crown to Toyota in 2008.

Meanwhile the others Japanese car maker, Honda, Nissan and Suzuki is ranked 7, 8 and 9. It’s fantastic since ten years ago Hyundai-Kia was placed 11th among manufacturer volumes.

1.         Toyota Motor = 3,564,105 units

2.         General Motors = 3,552,722 units

3.         Volkswagen AG = 3,100,300 units

4.         Hyundai-Kia = 2,153,000 units

5.         Ford Motor = 2,145,000 units

6.         PSA Peugeot-Citroen = 1,586,900 units

7.         Honda Motor = 1,586,000 units

8.         Nissan Motor = 1,545,976 units

9.         Suzuki Motor = 1,152,000 units

10.       Renault SA = 1,106,989 units
