Indonesia Cars Sales in August increase 15%

Indonesia Cars Sales continues to increase, even in month of August the sales is increase 15% from July sales. Cars sales in August reached 48,180 units while July sales only booked 41,910 units. In period January to August 2009, totally Indonesia cars sales in achieved 300,337 units while 430,000 units targeting by GAIKINDO (Indonesian Automotive Association) sell in year 2009.
The increasing of cars sales are caused by majority of the Indonesian people will face “Hari Raya Lebaran (Holiday)”. In this event they usually need a new car to “Pulang Kampung” and mostly their choice are a MPV, Multi Purpose Vehicle that able to carrying seven passengers.
In addition, some sole distributors break the market situation by release new models or attractive financial package i.e. low Down Payment, low interest rate, or accessories bonus.
The Top 10 position has not changed and is still dominated by Japanese brands. Toyota still leads domestic market with 115,187 unit’s sales or 38.4% market share. In August alone, Toyota sells 18,403 units. Meanwhile, Daihatsu that one of Japanese brand that sole by Astra International books 7,279 units sales in August and totally achieve 49,797 units or control 15.8% of market share. While Mitsubishi reaches 37,200 unit’s sales in January to August 2009 or 12.4% market share. Rank four is Suzuki with 28,725 units (9.6%), while Honda in rank 5 with 7.8% market share or 23,426 units’ sales.

The sales number is base on “wholesales” data or delivery cars from sole distributor to dealer/showroom. Meanwhile the number of delivery cars from dealer/showroom to customer is called “retailsales” that usually a little bit different with wholesales data.
