In addition to being divided by frequency of the sound, car speakers can be subdivided into 3 types based on the design that is:
- Dual Cone Car Speakers. This speaker has standard quality sound and usually use by car manufacturer as Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) parts or factory standard. Dual cone speaker is called as full range speaker since able to produce wide frequency but is not high quality sound.
- Coaxial Car Speakers. This car speaker has design of integrated tweeter, midrange and woofer/subwoofer in one way system. Coaxial speaker of 2 way (tweeter and woofer), 3 way (tweeter, woofer, and midrange) and 4 way (woofer, midrange and 2 tweeter).
- Split Car Speakers. This speaker equipped by separate tweeter, midbass, and midrange in one speaker system. Beside that, split car speaker split also equipped by electronic equipment namely passive crossover that working to divides the sound frequency that tweeter, midrange and midbass frequencies received in accordance with ability.
Split car speaker divided of 2 way system (Tweeter and midbass) and 3 way system (tweeter, midrange, and midbass).
