Indonesia Cars Sales Books New Records

The Indonesian economy continues to grow and one indicator is cars sales on June 2010 reached 69,500 units. These cars sales report are according to information from one of Indonesia Automotive Association member (GAIKINDO). This sales volume is also the highest monthly sales record in the history of Indonesia cars sales. The previous record in April 2010 is only 65,500 units. Although, we compared to the previous month is increase of 16% from 60,500 unit’s sales in May 2010.

Meanwhile, for retail cars sales, or based on delivery car from dealer to customers, reportedly also increased and reaching 66,300 units or an increase of 13 percent compared to May 2010 with sales of 58,800 units. With this addition, total cars sales in the first half of 2010 have reached 369,300 units or an increase of 76% over the year 2009 in the same period.

According to some of car dealers in Jakarta, the car demand continued to strengthen since the beginning of the year. The cause is a stable exchange rate of Indonesian Rupiah against the dollar and low interest rates of car loan. Higher wholesale in June 2010 also indicate the car maker and car dealer preparation to face the Fasting & Idul Fitri holidays because several months earlier confirmed the demand will increase.

For Indonesian people, the Fasting Month and Idul Fitri/Lebaran are special days. It is traditional in Indonesia in the Lebaran, the car market will increase. For the two months before the day, the car makers have increased the supply. With this car sales achievement, GAIKINDO prediction that total car sales in Indonesia this year could be realized through the 650K units or 700K units. More precisely, there is an increase 34 percent over the previous year.

Mazda Cars Sales Increase 600 percent in Year 2010

The sales of Mazda cars in the first quarter of year 2010 have records a fantastic achievement. If the period January to March of 2009, Mazda cars sales only books 171 units, so in this year 2010, Mazda increased its sales by up to 600 percent to 1198 units.

The highest of Mazda cars sales is caused of Mazda2 become a best selling new comer in hatchback segment. Since firstly introduced in end of November 2009 and then, Mazda2 that compete with the All New Honda Jazz and the New Toyota Yaris succeeded in selling an average of 150 units per month. Toyota Yaris in National Car Market

Toyota Yaris in Q1-2010 National Car Market

Sales of the Toyota Yaris, Toyota’s best-selling hatchback experienced the highest increase in sales compared to its competitor. In last March, the Toyota Yaris was successfully sold more than 1,419 units or an increase of 44 percent of sales in February. Even in the 1st quarter of 2010, Toyota Yaris has been sold more than 3,188 units.

In fact in the same period in 2009, the Toyota Yaris is only 1,800 units sold. It is a remarkable increase in sales and reached 77 percent. This hatchback cars are sold with the price range of Rp. 181 to 214.5 million it had already successfully embraced the young Indonesian market.

The high sale of the Toyota Yaris made Toyota cars sales have to 25,717 units in last March. This means the total sales of Toyota in Indonesia during the first three months has reached 66.307 units and master the 40 percent of national car market. The growth of the national automobile market on Q1-2010 did indeed continue to show positive growth (165.800 units) and even rose 73 percent from sales in 2009.

In addition to the Toyota Yaris, Toyota Kijang Innova and Avanza remains the best-selling family car in the segment is low & medium-MPV with total sales of 18,831 units or an increase of 22.4 percent from the previous month’s sales. Toyota sold 13,858 units of their own Avanza and Kijang Innova 4504 unit sales record. From January to March 2010, the total family cars of Toyota books 47,312 units, up 60 percent from the same period last year.
