Jakarta contribute 40.6% to Indonesia auto market 2008

The sales of new cars in Great Jakarta (JABODETABEK) area contribute 40.6% (218,451 units) to Indonesia auto market 2008 (538,047 units). Its number is base on Police Registration of Cars data; even GAIKINDO data 2008 (607,770 units) is wholesales or vehicle has been deliver to its dealer. Great Jakarta or Jabodetabek is metropolitan area surrounding Jakarta and consist of Jakarta city, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.

Great Jakarta cars sales contributes in 2008 (40.6%) is decreased 4.3% from last year contribution (44.9%). Even the number of cars sales is increase 23% from 177,301 units in year 2007. The second biggest contributors are East Java (Surabaya) with contributes 10% or 54,340 units sales. Its makes West Java area placed in 3^rd position with 52,124 units sales (9.7%),

Toyota still leads Indonesia auto market

Toyota, Indonesia auto market leader

Toyota still leads Indonesia auto market 2009 with 62,000 unit’s sales or 36% market share. Total domestic cars sale in January up to May 2009 period was 170,677 units, decreased -28% from 237,928 units in same period last year. In May 2009 alone total cars sales booked 35,818 units, increasing 4% compared to that 34,600 units in April 2009.

The Price of Cars More Increase in April

After price increasing every month since October 2008, the price of cars more increase in April 2009. Some cars sole agent more increase On The Road price of cars. Base on information from cars sole agent, the price of new cars must be more increase since Indonesian Rupiah still doesn’t strength against US Dollar and Japanese Yen.

Increasing of new cars price has due to top selling cars in Indonesia auto market. The twin model, Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia, popular and best seller MPV in Indonesia increasing the price Rp. 2,500,000.- for each variant. The price bracket of Daihatsu Xenia are from Rp. 108,700,000.- to  Rp. 127,200,000.- Meanwhile price bracket of Toyota Avanza become from Rp. 132,100,000.- to  Rp. 168,400,000.-

Even, Low MPV from Suzuki, Suzuki APV 1.5L had to increase by Rp. 2,500,000.- for lowest variant and Rp. 7,000,000.- for highest variants. Its make price bracket Suzuki APV are from Rp. 128,000,000.- to  Rp. 169,500,000.-

Even Honda All New Jazz more increase on the road price by Rp. 5,000,000.- to Rp. 8,000,000.- Its make price bracket Honda All New Jazz are from Rp. 196,000,000.- to  Rp. 221,500,000.-

The same goes for other Honda product. Honda All New City, Mini Sedan with 1,500 cc engine, increase by Rp. 9,000,000.- for each variant. Honda All New Civic 1.8L increase by Rp. 10,000,000.-. Even, Honda New CRV, best seller Medium SUV in Indonesia, that sold 17,800 units in year 2008, the price is increase by Rp. 9,000,000.- Its make the on the road price of Honda New CRV are from Rp. 342,000,000.- to  Rp. 379,000,000.-

The other car manufacturer Japanese brand, Mitsubishi had to increase new cars price by Rp. 3,000,000.- to Rp. 10,000,000.- for all models and variants. Even, Passenger Car i.e. Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Grandis, or Commercial Car i.e. Mitsubishi T120SS, Mitsubishi L200, and Mitsubishi Fuso & Colt Diesel.

PT. Proton Edar Indonesia, sole agent Proton in Indonesia, Malaysian cars, increasing new cars price by Rp. 3,000,000.- to Rp. 5,000,000.-

Proton Savvy, the most popular product of Proton, sell by Rp. 103,000,000.- for Manual Transmission and Rp. 113,000,000 for Automated Manual.
