Astra and Indomobil, the leaders of the Indonesia Automotive Industry

Astra International & Indomobil Sales Volume
When discussing about the Indonesia automotive industry, one will never fail not to mention the role of Astra and Indomobil. Both company hold important roles in the development of Indonesia auto industry.
Astra International sale 7 car brands: Toyota, Daihatsu, Isuzu, Peugeot, Nissan Diesel, BMW, and Lexus with a total market share of more than 50%.
The models of car that contributed greatly towards Astra International group’s sales are; Toyota Avanza, Toyota Rush, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Vios, Daihatsu Xenia, Daihatsu Terios, Daihatsu GranMax and Isuzu Panther.
While Indomobil sale more than 10 car brands from various countries; Suzuki, Nissan, Hino, Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, Renault, Ssangyong, Chery, Greatwall and Foton Truck with a total market share of 20% from the Indonesia Cars Sales.
The models of car that contributed significantly towards Indomobil are; Suzuki Carry, Suzuki APV, Suzuki Karimun, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki GrandVitara, Nissan Grand Livina and Nissan X-Trail.
While no more than 30% of the total car sales in Indonesia is shared between other organizations.
To be noted that in addition of sharing the 4-wheel-vehicle market shares, both Astra and Indomobil also competing for the motorcycles market shares with brands such as Honda (Astra) and Suzuki (Indomobil).
In this motorcycles industry, Honda sold up to 2.1 million units in 2008 with a market share of 46% from the total national sales of 4.6 million units whilst Suzuki sold 637 thousand units or 13.5% from the total national sales. Furthermore, Yamaha sold 1.8 million units to gain a market share of 38%.
