Proton Cars Sales start to twist

Despite total domestic cars sales decrease -28% compare to 2008 sales, Proton cars sales in 2009 start to twist. PT. Proton Edar Indonesia, sole distributors of Proton cars in Indonesia sell 440 units in the January – April 2009 period. With the sales achievement Proton cars sales increase 26% compared to the same period in 2008 when sales stood at 348 units.

The biggest contributors to Proton cars sales 2009 are Proton Gen Persona with sales 203 units (46%). Proton Gen2 Persona available in 5 variants, Standard MT, Medium MT & AT, and High MT & AT. With 1.6litre CAMPRO IAFM engine, Persona is claim low fuel consumption and more powerful.

With affordable price, Proton offers all of luxurious and comfort that usual equipped in luxurious sedan. Gen2 Persona firstly introduced in Indonesia Motor Show 2008 and has price range from IDR 133 Mills to IDR 161 Mills. In low sedan segment, Proton Gen2 Persona challenge to Japanese sedan has been exist before, Toyota New Vios, All New Honda City, and Suzuki Neo Baleno.

Proton present to Indonesia auto market since March 2007. And entered 2^nd year, Proton already have 10 sales outlets and plan to open 33 sales outlets in this year. PT. Proton Edar Indonesia has made meaningful investments to develop their business, and just opened Proton Edar Medan by end of April 2009. The third dealership of Proton in Sumatera, after Palembang and Pekanbaru, provides sales, service and spare parts to its customers.
