Toyota’s Record January Cars Sales of 19,459 Units

Toyota can not be shaken as the leader of the national auto market. In January 2010, the first month of this Tiger year, PT. Toyota Astra Motor as sole distributor of Toyota cars in Indonesia succeed to managed record retail sales of 19,459 units. Referring to retail sales data reported by PT. TAM, the performance of Toyota cars sales raised only 2.5 percent thinner than the position in December 2009 recorded 18,978 units. The largest sales contributed by passenger car with 18,229 units, or increase 1 percent from the previous month.
Toyota car sales lead national auto market
“The development of the national auto market increasingly positive in 2010 was the beginning of the year. If the products of other brands go down, Toyota cars sales just increase. Especially to the two flagship products Avanza and Kijang Innova,” said President Director of PT. Toyota Kijang Innova has been present in Indonesia more than 30 years. This family car has been present since 1977 and Kijang Innova is the fifth generation that has accompanied the Indonesian family journey.
1st Generation of Toyota Kijang (1977 – 1980)
The car was first introduced on June 9, 1977 in a very simple form. Half-door pickup box, with side windows made of tarpaulin and plastic. Hinge door looks from the outside. Known as the Kijang Buaya equipped with 3K 1.2-litre engine. This car called as Kijang Buaya because the hood can be opened up to the side. The Sales of Kijang Buaya reached 26,806 units. Read more…

Toyota Avanza | Best Selling MPV
Toyota cars sales in August 2009 reached the highest records that 18,403 units and remains Toyota as the leader in the Indonesian automotive market. This sales number is the highest sales figures during the year 2009 and increasing 4% from July sales. Toyota Avanza is still the backbone of Toyota Cars Sales that contributes 57% with 55,600 unit’s sales. In year 2009, total sales of Toyota cars in Indonesia are achieve 96,784 units and more than a half are contribute by Avanza. By June 29, 2009, PT. Honda Prospect Motors release Honda Freed to Indonesia auto market. Priced at Rp. 237 Million for Standard type and Rp. 257 Million for highest variants (RS Type). Its makes Honda Freed head to head with Toyota Kijang Innova and Nissan Grand Livina. Even the engine capacity of Honda Freed is only 1.5 liter, same capacity with Toyota Avanza 1.5 and Nissan Grand Livina 1.5, its fair if we compare Honda Freed with Toyota Kijang Innova 2.0 AT G-type & V-type (Captain Seat), also with Nissan Grand Livina 1.8L AT Ultimate.

Avanza sales still high, contributes 60% to Toyota sales

Toyota Avanza sales in May 2009 booked 8,538 units, increasing 16.7% from 7,318 units in April 2009. It’s mean, total Toyota Avanza sales in January – May 2009 period is 37,417 units, and makes up 60.4% of Toyota cars sales 2009. Total Toyota cars sale in January up to May 2009 period was 62,000 units, decreased -23% from 80,445 units in same period last year
